the nedumentary
Glasgow is Scotland's largest and most "vibrant" city. The City Of Glasgow was formed in medieval times as a small village on the river clyde. The first neds were spawned on the banks of the river and have flourished ever since. The 17th and 18th centuries found Glasgow a prosperous hub of activity as merchants sailed the seas and brought back wealth based on cotton and tobacco (modern day weed and eccies). In the late 19th and early 20th century Glasgow became known as a city of slum, squalor and filth due to large steel mills belching smoke into the atmosphere and deforming the genes of the modern neds making them what they are today! Glasgow's industrial side has since largely fallen away and the river Clyde, once Glasgow's backbone, where some of the best ship building skills in the world were found is now a mecca for tramps and vagrants to drink their buckfast and finish their sausage suppers at the end of a good nights begging. Glasgow is rapidly becoming a hotspot for tourists around Europe so it is only fitting that they should be warned about some of the "characters" that they will run into on their trip to our wonderful city. It has been noted that just about all of the websites that tourists check out before they come to Glasgow paint this image of a magical and beautiful place with "character", which is not too far from heaven. The word 'character' is the disclaimer. Although there are some nice places in Glasgow there are also a lot of bad (probably more so than good) places so it is the aim of this site to let the tourists know that it's not all good. We're not trying to stop people coming to Glasgow, we simply want to let them be prepared for this complex city.
